'Battleship Island' has got amazing feedback.
CJ Entertainment has announced that the upcoming film 'Battleship Island has been sold to 113 countries. The film has been sold to North American countries, as well as France, Italy, Russia, Turkey, Japan, Hongkong, Singapore, Thailand, and more.
"The film is a war film, prison film, and escape film. It has sufficient charm in terms of genre to captivate the French audience," said Cyril Burkel, acquisitions executive at French distributor Metropolitan.
Choi Yoonhee, head of international distribution at CJ Entertainment, said, "I think the casting of top actors, such as So Jisub and Hwang Jungmin, in a large scale escape story and the anticipation for director Ryu Seungwan's new work appealed to foreign buyers." Though unable to reveal the exact amount, he said that the film has been sold for 'a record price among Korean films to most Asian countries.'
In South Korea itself, 'Battleship Island will start hitting cinema in July. 'Battleship Island' takes place during the Japanese colonial era and tells the story of the Korean people who tried to escape the hard labor forced on Goon Ham Do island in the past.
